2025 | Ration provided by Manas Mitra to Apna Ashiyana Ashram, Karnal for food distribution

As part of our efforts to help and support Persons with Mental Illness (PMIs) and their families, we at Manas Mitra Trust have decided to start food distribution for such persons and their families. We hope to work with institutions offering services to PMIs such as Hospitals, Rehab Centers/ Homes/Ashrams etc. for this purpose. 

A humble beginning was made in this direction with distribution of ration/ingredients to Apna Ashiyana Ashram -a home for the destitute, including destitute with mental illness. They are doing stellar work by providing not just a home for them but also love, compassion and empathetic care to these abandoned people. And, it is this love, compassion and empathy of everyone providing service here that makes Apna Ashiyana stand out.

Many of the destitute residents have mental health problems and some were brought to this home in very bad conditions -seriously wounded, highly malnourished and in a filthy state. Some were very aggressive and non-compliant, and some with maggots infesting their wounds. But, the kindness, love and affection offered to them by the volunteers and staff at Apna Ashiyana is exemplary. And, this has transformed the lives of many of these residents now. 

Those serving here, from the founders to the volunteers, do not hesitate to clean them and feed them by their own hands with love, even when the residents are hostile and hit them because of their mental health condition. The level of their commitment is truly inspirational.

At present more than 260 residents are living at Apna Ashiyana Ashram.

It has been a privilege to know about them and see their work in person. 

By the blessings of Guru Maharaj and Krishna’s mercy, Manas Mitra Trust had the opportunity to provide them with some ration/supplies for food distribution on 1st April 2025.

2025 | अपना आशियाना आश्रम, करनाल में खाद्य वितरण हेतु मानस मित्र द्वारा प्रदान किया गया राशन

मानसिक रोग से ग्रस्त व्यक्तियों (PMIs) और उनके परिवारों की सहायता के लिए, मनस मित्र ट्रस्ट ने उनके लिए भोजन / खाद्य वितरण शुरू करने का निर्णय लिया है। इस प्रयास के तहत हम अस्पतालों, पुनर्वास केंद्रों, आश्रमों आदि जैसे संस्थानों के साथ मिलकर कार्य करने की आशा रखते हैं।

इस दिशा में एक विनम्र शुरुआत की गई है — राशन/सामग्री का वितरण अपना आशियाना आश्रम में किया गया, जो कि बेसहारा लोगों, विशेष रूप से मानसिक रोग से पीड़ित बेसहारा व्यक्तियों के लिए एक आश्रय स्थल है। यह आश्रम सिर्फ एक छत ही नहीं देता बल्कि इन छोड़े गए लोगों को प्रेम, करुणा और सहानुभूतिपूर्ण देखभाल भी प्रदान करता है। यह सेवा भावना और अपनापन ही अपना आशियाना को विशेष बनाता है।

यहां रहने वाले कई बेसहारा लोग मानसिक रोगों से ग्रस्त हैं और कुछ को बेहद दयनीय स्थिति में लाया गया था — गंभीर रूप से घायल, अत्यंत कुपोषित और गंदे हालात में। कुछ बेहद आक्रामक और सहयोग न करने वाले थे, कुछ के घावों में कीड़े तक थे। लेकिन यहां के स्वयंसेवकों और कर्मचारियों द्वारा दिए गए प्रेम, दया और स्नेह ने इन लोगों के जीवन को पूरी तरह से बदल दिया है।

यहां सेवा देने वाले, चाहे वे संस्थापक हों या स्वयंसेवक, बिना किसी झिझक के इन लोगों की सफाई करते हैं, उन्हें अपने हाथों से प्रेमपूर्वक खाना खिलाते हैं — भले ही मानसिक स्थिति के कारण वे आक्रामक हों या उन्हें चोट पहुँचाएं। इनका समर्पण वास्तव में प्रेरणादायक है।

वर्तमान में अपना आशियाना आश्रम में 260 से अधिक निवासी रह रहे हैं। इनके बारे में जानना और इनका कार्य स्वयं देखना हमारे लिए एक सौभाग्य की बात रही।

गुरु महाराज की कृपा और भगवान कृष्ण की दया से, मनस मित्र ट्रस्ट को 1 अप्रैल 2025 को उन्हें खाद्य वितरण हेतु कुछ राशन/सामग्री प्रदान करने का अवसर प्राप्त हुआ।
